Ultimate is the tier beyond Savage, and there are only two Ultimate duties in the game

you need to clear Savage raids to unlock them

there's no reason to do them other than the glams and the bragging rights

the devs have stated that they do not plan to ever allow them as unsynced or increase the level sync limits

they will remain exactly as hard as they are now, forever

there's one that's a boss rush of Coils of Bahamut and one that's a boss rush of 2.0's plot (Garuda, Ifrit, Titan, Lahabrea, Ultima Weapon)

in vanilla Ultima Weapon, the fight ends with it trying to cast Ultima, and you have to kill it before it finishes the cast or it's a party wipe

in the Ultimate version, it STARTS the phase of the duty where you fight Ultima Weapon by casting Ultima immediately

and you just have to survive it

For the record, something to consider: when your gear syncs down your Materia bonuses go away.

As such? For these, you want gear around their item level sync, to minmax your chances. Which either means Augmented Lost Allagan gear (340) that you can now only get from Hunt Marks, or Swallows Compass gear (345) for UCOB specifically

UCOB syncs at 345

So even the 350 crafted gear will fuck your Materia melds up
