[Work] So, some advice, all. How do you help someone who thrives on organisation and routine, when their job isn't giving them that.

The department I work in can be very reactive, and I think one of the new hires is struggling with how quickly things can change.

And I want to help her, but given I've been here 5 years now, I'm kind of used to it and I can't really put myself in her position.

adaptation methodology?
[[BIG SHOT]]
a plan on how to study a new situation
[[BIG SHOT]]
if that makes any sense
[[BIG SHOT]]
making the adaption the actual routine
[[BIG SHOT]]
reactive jobs can really be a pain in the ass so I guess most of what can be done is a change of perspective

Yeah I mean, I think she's trying to make it make sense in a way it's never going to. She's trying to force a strict routine on the job and it's never going to stick.
[[BIG SHOT]]
yeah it's really not
[[BIG SHOT]]
even what I was trying to suggest means accepting that you'll have to study a new thing often and work around it
[[BIG SHOT]]
but she really has to like...actually..accept it
[[BIG SHOT]]
something's got to give and only then can she maybe form a new routine around it. But besides you suggesting something like that, I don't think it's really in your power to make that click in her head...

I know it's super frustrating for her bc just as she thinks things are falling into place, it changes and she's lost again.
[[BIG SHOT]]
yeah, I can see that. :/ I'm sure she's trying.
[[BIG SHOT]]
hence why i mentioned specifically like..setting up a methodology, which means she can settle into routine like how she thrives, and one based on studying any changes so she may be prepared. Though I'm not sure how feasible that is there....
[[BIG SHOT]]
like how massive are the changes, what time she has to do that, how long it takes her to adapt, etc
