This is consistent with the Drug War. Alcohol is after all a drug, arguably deadlier than shabu. He could either decriminalize all drugs or criminalize all drugs. Criminalizing alcohol at certain hours is certainly a first step.

It's a different regime I think. Not just the politicians, but the voters. The liberal/progressive class which usually dominates the culture is ebbing. The neo-authoritarians, having been held back for years, are asserting their claim on the culture.

Im suspect if the Americans hadnt conquered us and introduced liberalism and progressivism to the culture, this was how the PH would be. It's its natural state.
