So I may be writing a story for an anthology that offered these very specific prompts for the stories they're looking for (futuristic sci-fi/Lovecraftiana, but very inspiring prompts).

All my years writing things for fanfic prompts is coming in handy :: rolls up sleeves ::

Indeed! They're very specific as to what tech they want showcased, the year it takes place, the setting/location, even the specific Lovecraftian beasties.

It's set in Puget Sound, dealing with a pod of cybernetically-enhanced orcas... that seem to be fleeing something...

Also, I'm writing a beastie I've never written before, so that's gonna be a cool challenge.

Aaaaandd... my mind decided to set it on a fishing boat. This is my fourth time writing a story set on a fishing boat.

And I've never worked one. I have no idea...

I'm wondering if I have an ancestor waaaay back in Ireland or somewhere who was a fisher and their spirit is nudging my mind somehow...

I could believe you have an ancestor whose spirit is inspiring you!

Besides, your last name's Irish, right?
