most of the day near Twilligate today. took a 6 hr round trip boat ride out to what was termed a medium sized iceberg. above water, about 150 ft high, waterline more than 200 x 300 ft- just guessing. they said it had run aground in 600 ft of water . off to l anse aux Meadows tomorrow- 9 road hours, with 3 drivers
so very very remote driving across, then north. many stretches we saw NOTHING from along the road for more than an hour..no houses, farms, fences, nothing...just scrub pine, bare rock, and waterways. Beautiful, but ...empty....
about 9 months of winter, a month at most of a cool summer. Told by someone that grew up in l'anse aux meadows, on a typical winter, they get so much snow, single story houses, you'll be able to drive your snow machine OVER your house until march....
