the tl;dr is the homestuck epilogues came out, and they were riddled with.... controversial characterisation choices and shock plot twists straight out of an early 2000's darkfic
what I’ve been hearing round my corner of fandom is that it’s not a good experience if you ever genuinely had some fondness for Homestuck or its characters this is all secondhand, naturally, but tbh I have better to do with my time. it’s kind of staggering how many people are hurt, tho.
and they are trying to do some interesting meta commentary but it's sort of overshadowed by how hostile it ends up feeling toward its own fans, whether intentional or not
^and for me, whatever interesting meta commentary is there is ruined by the narrative itself doing the usual homestuck wink-wink-nudge-nudge thing every few pages, so eh.
My own experience wasn't being hurt by it, just being... very confused and unsatisfied with it and at times kind of not sure about what they were aiming for.
