I'm heading out to Chicago this summer and I plan on taking the train

I can either go on a direct line and get there within 19 hours (but in a single tiny chair) OR I can take a different route that will be about 23 hours, but will have a 3 hour stop in Pittsburgh where I can get out, stretch my legs, and maybe explore the surrounding area a bit/clean up/etc.
