To be fair I sort of understand the argument to this insofar as like channels that do commentary on manga chapters and/or announcements. There like are a lot of one piece (and dragon ball super) guys and people who have tied their channels to one or both of those shows

but I would not call many of those guys the current ascendent anime youtubers of the day.

If anything, I'd say the big thing anime youtube has tied itself to perhaps a bit too closely (even if I'm guilty of liking content like that) is sort of just the horserace of what's the current hypest show(s) of the newest season.

Sure, there are a lot of videos about Kaguya-sama, Mob Psycho 100, and The Promised Neverland, but I'm seeing tons of people post stuff about the Fall '18 shows they didn't get around to talking about last season (lots of Bloom Into You)
