Character questions! Come at me.

11,12,17,23,45!

for Fraser, I'll assume! 11: as a kid, I think probably when his mother died :-( not because he was in danger or anything, but he was only six and he had no idea what had happened (he still doesn't know all the details, oops) or what was going to happen next and his father was a mess and then he ended up being handed off to his grandparents :-(
swoleregard
it was all a lot of catastrophic upheaval and uncertainty in a life that had been pretty simple before that
swoleregard
as an adult, I think the moment he realized that not only had Victoria set him up, but that things he'd thought were sweet little gestures (like, she saw he was broke and slipped him some extra cash, that's embarrassing but thoughtful) were actually calculated ways of incriminating him (oh wait it was stolen cash with consecutive serial numbers)
swoleregard
I think that was pretty fucking terrifying
swoleregard
12 -- hmm man idk he's a pretty calm dude in general. deeply fucked up, but calm. I'm trying to think of especially peaceful moments and if he's had any of those, they're mostly with Dief, who is Best Dog(/Wolf).
swoleregard
17 - lmao Fraser canonically got no toys as a child, he got books :| he is low-key super resentful over it :|
swoleregard
he does have favorite books, obviously. he was a very running-jumping-climbing-trees kid the rest of the time so he did also get, like, sporting equipment and bikes and sleds and whatnot, the best of which was the hockey gear
swoleregard
bb!Ben was very into hockey players
swoleregard
23: He just truly cannot stand rudeness. And I don't mean, like, cursing, or boorish behavior, because he may not love that and he won't do it himself but he quite likes some people who swear like sailors and act like snarky idiots (hi Rays) -- what gets to him is when people disregard others or think other people are beneath them
swoleregard
You can get away with all the dumb shit in the world with him if you have a good heart and treat people well; if you think you're above it all and no one else is worth the time of day, he'll get right up in your face and stay there. politely. :-) :-) :-)
swoleregard
annnnnnnd 45. Well, now he worries he'll end up like his father and live in some weird ghost plane and pop up every now and then to haunt, like... Dief? or maybe Ray? he's not thrilled by the idea.
FʀɪᴇɴᴅIɴYᴇʟʟᴏᴡ
these are all good answers and also I heart him terribly
swoleregard
aw yay ;;
swoleregard
I heart him too, the big goober
Jay
aww, Fraser <3
poliorketes
if he ends up haunting dief dief WILL find a way to bite ghosts
poliorketes
20 and 21?
swoleregard
oh man I somehow missed this before but I'm glad I looked because those are super interesting questions for him
swoleregard
20 got me thinking about how he tends to operate in extremes and like-- he doesn't really compare himself to others, because everything sort of either falls into Fraser Talent or Weird Fraser Thing
swoleregard
either he's ridiculously good at stuff and doesn't need to compare because he's already secure about it or he's doing something no one else does and he can accept that he's just a freak that way
swoleregard
the only times I can think of him being competitive are when he's up against Ray with a lady
swoleregard
because that's the only time that A: someone's subjective opinion of him actually matters and B: he can't control it sufficiently just by being himself
swoleregard
and suddenly I wonder if that's partly why he does all this shit, on some level, so he never has to compare himself to anyone
swoleregard
(except his dad, anyway, which is an entirely different topic)
swoleregard
neither validation nor criticism
swoleregard
21 is like... both. if it's something truly minor, it's someone else's fault. if it's legitimately tragic, oh God the self-flagellation that ensues.
poliorketes
oh man, that's a really interesting thought!
poliorketes
he does get weird around his sister, when he suddenly has to compete with ray for her attention
