Roof is leaking... and aging... looks like a replacement is in our near future, but we need to get a temp fix to last 4 months until they can do a proper job.

um if you can get some flex seal and spray it where there are leaks, it'll last about a year, all you need is 4 months

but you need a lot of cans, more than they say. I know this because we had a leak at the attic vent and used it, it lasted a year. but it took 2 cans

I bet you can get the roof repaired. Hurrican Sandy caused our roof to leak, and we were able to have it repaired for a few hundred, and that allowed us 3 years to save up and replace it.

kesseret : Really? Flex seal? The guy said there's no obvious spot he can point at as the cause, but it's probably something around the chimney.

We have a large house, with lots of different angles to the roof. We have money put aside that will cover the cost, but yeah... that number and having to wait until March or April is tough.

If you really think it is the Chimney, there are ways to repair around that that will hold for a year or two. Roofers can try it, and you can see if it works.

that's probably a better alternative, unfortunately the one person who I trusted to do a repair couldn't do it, so we had to take drastic measures- also our roof was 20 years old and needed to be done.

so if you don't need it done, find a repair person. The flex seal is like serious desperation
