I was really upset by the season since it pretty much just reaffirmed the trope that the abusers get forgiven while the abused are left to rot and i was pretty livid. now im just kinda meh and think it was really stereotypical and badly done from a characterization perspective

And the thing about Lotor is: he was killed. By team voltron. Whom he was just starting to trust. Because they found out things about him that they did not like. And things he did not have a chance to explain. And were they awful things? Yes, they were. But he was not given that chance.

a problem I have with a lot of storytelling in general is that there are routes to things the audience can see and hope for but the narrative pushes on through anyway. It's plot based not character based. And people who support characters and wanting them to thrive no matter which part of the "narrative" they wind up on end up being disappointed.
