Ben took two weeks off unpaid to help me with Vincent when he was born. I think it should be a paid thing... paid maternity leave too. he wanted to stay home a whole month but we couldn't afford it.

Yes! Both parents should be able to bond with the new baby, and its kind of a lot of work to tend to a newborn.

Paternity should be a thing. But hell I'd just appreciate if people could get paid Maternity reliably. Like at the place I work, they don't offer maternity, but they wouldn't let my friend come back any sooner than 4 weeks after her daughter's birth.

i think it should be paid for both parents, it just sucks for those who are single and know they wont have kids lol

Seems nice but it really puts the employer out. It should be the choice of the employer not govt mandated
