but I really wish there was even HALF the fuss made over the number of times Clark turned 'evil' or questionable for today's stupid bullshit plot of the week
Dark Knights Metal, Nightwing the New Order, even the main timeline Gods plot re: the death of Darkseid during that Justice League event thing had Clark being a fucking rage beast and it just
like, I know the new52 hurt a lot because I lost my JSA and legacy kids but while there were parts of that run that made me facepalm (the Superwonder, the ART JESUS THE ART, killing the Kents)
facing some of that ugliness of how people can be to immigrants and outsiders and Clark as antiestablishment, GOOD even when it was So Hard, even when his powers were practically gone
I'd been reading the comics for decades, my family owned a comic book store so I read backstock going decades before I was born, so let's just say the salt was to the extreme when 52 happened for me
It made me so goddamn mad that they were apparently just doing everything in their power to tarnish Superman as a symbol and make him lesser made me rage quit comics for about four years.
Theoretically I'm not against a concept of a What If good guys are all bad and bad guys are all good. Kind of lik ... as a what if side thing, not as a major industry, I guess.
Exactly lol, it's what a side universe is for. And one you don't dwell in long. Like it's only fun as a few shots, not as a regular thing, at least for me.
Kind of like how they handled DCTV, which to a lesser degree mind you, but they had the Nazi world and spent two episodes on it and then were like okay enough of that yikes. Imperfect example, but it's kind of how I see worlds like that functioning. As a quick shot, omg wow, and then over.
I haven't played the games because they're not my kind of games. I didn't realize they actually had stories in them, honestly, it looked like Mortal Kombat.
...it's in the epilogue that the JL have him ingest a lead-encased K capsule and they take turns holding the button. My entire head exploded at that point
but the fact that there hasn't been a good goddamn plot about Clark just being Fucking Awesome since the 90s it feels like instead of all this dark au nonsense
Like, there's some stuff in there that's interesting and I'd love to see played out differently ... but the execution was botched and it was launching from a pad that wasn't entirely level
I'll be honest, my favorite thing for a while was the Lois and Clark comic and I'm sad that a lot of the cooler stuff in that go subsumed when they becamse mainstream Superfam.
Of course, he also made Dick evil, so I just really hate Miller.
