the dummy pronouns thing makes me think of the weird way passive voice is used in Japanese

i got down to number 1 and got made because i was involved in an argument last week where a guy was trying to insist he wasn't chomskian when he clearly was, because he was pitted against a room of people who lean more towards the experience angle.

also i noticed that this article does not actually explain anything from linguistic empiricism..... :|

Lmao meanwhile I'm just like "but why are you picking on dummy pronouns when English makes it possible to split infinitives and use double negatives?"

Really, using two separate words to do the job of what grammatically is one word is way more dumb than English Syntax requiring some placeholders

(Also for some people like myself, saying something like "lot of people outside the cafe" actually is subtly different in a hard-to-define way)

Also I'm not even touching the learning languages part of this because that's missing so much information it's not even detailed enough to be the sparknotes XD;
