mob psycho: mostly I'm actually thinking about this bc it occurred to me a while back that espers and their weird but mostly hidden power struggles map oddly well onto cs style hacker turf wars and shit

soooo, mob....... some kind of child prodigy, understands computers and digimon intuitively but doesn't think it's a big deal, EDEN works despite them

still can't help retaliating by wiping a forum database or two when he catches wind of cyber crimes getting planned / executed but since he's not affiliated with any group the rumours get out of hand...

then people trying to dox him as leverage to get him to work for them end up homing in on ritsu instead, who makes a deal with a bad digimon so that he can claim credit and be a Cool Dude

he'd get better later (probably mob would be the one snapping him out of it ig) but he'd have picked up some techniques in the meantime because he is a smart (yet stupid) boy

literal grade schoolers appear as enemies in cs why not these kids

but yeah neither of them would probably be very inclined to work with any hacker groups and hudie erc would not have enough info to trust mob anyway and like. the image of such interactions just popped into my head

claw in this au are some hacker group theoretically promoting respect for hackers and hacker culture in everyday life, but really just full of manchildren like in canon

with shou splintering away from that bc he wants to be Free(tm)

teru is some petty criminal script kiddie who still got rekt by mob and had his group disband

I picture a "please track down the digimon-using White Shirt Hacker" request becoming an entire hudie questline over the course of like a year and ending without the expected conflict because mob just wouldn't want one or see the point of one

feels like an especially cyber sleuth ish Thing to me

it's a little less obvious a mapping than mp100's but consider: black hat v white hat hacker groups, with EDEN as their highly visible arena

white hat hacker groups that have long histories and good reputations online but are also stratified, disadvantage certain skillsets for no practical reason (stares at every fuckin open source project that considers documentation an afterthought) and generally morally a bit grubby

like many of the people involved have good intentions and their skill is undeniable but they have not done some necessary soul-searching and less scrupulous people can exploit that

that neatly describes both irl tech communities and the mha hero establishment

perhaps theres one or several such white hat groups who openly recruit through EDEN bc hey, they're security specialists, they work with the police a lot, they have nothing to hide

in the age of EDEN you could get a lot of people aiming to become contributors to that community for the prestige / resume / potential money / whatever else

their use of digimon would be kind of an open secret but it's fine because their use has lots of internal rules and is heavily moderated

enforcing their codes of honour on other groups, like zaxon...

maybe such a group is part of zaxon or answerable to them like hudie were for a while idk

anyway this is a long circuitous way of saying that I imagined bakugo being an angry nerd who screams in capslock if you dare imply he's not commenting his code enough and this seems absolutely perfect

when you think about it all might and yuuko are in vaguely similar positions too :|a they feel the need to present as a symbol of unity even when the symbol is partly falsified and the group is rotten
