On May 9, 2013, the day they met for a reunion in her room at a Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey, Calif., she posted on Instagram: “Waiting for my long lost son my love jimmymbennett in trepidation #marinadelrey smoking cigarettes like there was no next week.” Mr. Bennett responded, “I’m almost there!”
The documents, which were sent to The New York Times through encrypted email by an unidentified party, include a selfie dated May 9, 2013, of the two lying in bed. As part of the agreement, Mr. Bennett, who is now 22, gave the photograph and its copyright to Ms. Argento, now 42. Three people familiar with the case said the documents were authentic.
Mr. Bennett’s notice of intent asked for $3.5 million in damages for the intentional infliction of emotional distress, lost wages, assault and battery.
Mr. Bennett made more than $2.7 million in the five years before the 2013 meeting with Ms. Argento, but his income has since dropped to an average of $60,000 a year, which he attributes to the trauma that followed the sexual encounter with Ms. Argento, his lawyer wrote.
In the agreement between Ms. Argento and Mr. Bennett, she agreed to pay him $380,000 over the course of a year and a half, starting with an initial payment of $200,000 that was made in April, according to a letter to Ms. Argento in which her lawyer, Ms. Goldberg, outlined the terms of the deal.
BLH NJ1h ago Even before this revelation, Ms. Argento's claims against Harvey Weinstein appeared weakened by her continuing relationship with him. It wasn't as if she were constantly in contact with him so that she could not avoid the relationship. It always did sound more like quid pro quo.
In light of these revelations, she just appears extremely manipulative and has no sense of right and wrong. There is too much opportunity for a different type of abuse in the #MeToo movement. The abuse is the ending of careers due to the assumption of guilt because of an accusation.
Sadly, there is opportunity for accusers to recharacterize relationships due to buyers' remorse, embarrassment, attention, fame, money or simply revenge.
Who knows what motivated her. Her accusations should've been looked at with more skepticism because of her continuing relationship with Mr. Weinstein. She would not have been able to position herself as a spokesperson for the #MeToo movement.
Manish California5h ago Did Bennett or his lawyers agree to his name being used for this article? From the article, it seems not - "Mr. Bennett, who lives in Los Angeles, would not agree to be interviewed, said his lawyer, Gordon K. Sattro.
“In the coming days,” Mr. Sattro wrote in an email, “Jimmy will continue doing what he has been doing over the past months and years, focusing on his music.”"
I thought you wouldn't expose a victim to prevent any further psychological trauma to the person in the wake of this news being out to be devoured by everyone. Wasn't this article supposed to be about Asia Argento as the abuser? About her hypocrisy? Why is the abuse victim being victimized further?
Given the available information it appears Argento committed statutory rape with a 17 year old, for which she might have been charged a misdemeanor and been required to do community service, and Bennett committed extortion, a felony with a sentence of up to 4 years.
Of course, it's a moot point because Argento has been charged in the media, which is as good as a guilty verdict and will probably put an end to her career.

I disagree with trial by media, and in this case it appears neither party wanted this to be made public.
