[Voltron] Ok, in an attempt to get my brain in gear, I'm going to ramble about some of my S5 observations about Matt.

Matt is (likely subconsciously) mirroring Shiro in smashing his emotions down and being strong for Pidge. There's obviously emotion there, but he's not dealing with his own.

I've also noticed that he's keeping his distance from Shiro (or the reverse). My guess is that either he realizes something's up with Shiro, or he just doesn't know how to interact with him after everything.

Another thing. The Cell.

I have three theories about what Matt found in the cell.

1. Nothing. If he found nothing there, then he could be pissed when he came back, because, well. Nothing.

2. Sam's empty cell. If he found in that cell indications of his father and how his father was mistreated, that would make him extremely pissed.

3. Something to do with Shiro. That, to me, is the least likely. I'm not entirely sure what this would mean. I think he would have reacted differently, or brought something back with him.

Also, whatever was in there actually pissed him off. He's been showing so little emotion other than soft concern or determination or excitement, that it's noticeable to me.

Like... if you look at how Shiro and Matt interact in backstory, they're obviously close.

so the fact that they're rarely in the same shot... that's probably a Thing.

Yeah. I have feels.

Also... how strong his bond is with Pidge. They're so damn close.

Sam: Little help here guys???
Quinn: I'm kinda busy...
Matt: Kinda busy, Dad!

(Nod nod) That might be part of it too, that he's focused on reconnecting with his family after YEARS.
