Seeing that just made me grin man. And asking if Kal had investiture? Only to realize he’s a surgebinder. Hahaha. Yeees. I love finding connections between books.
I probably shouldn’t feel so stupidly proud for catching connections between books, but I do. Especially since I know I can be seriously blind to them.
No, really, I didn’t even realize the comere was actually a thing until looking up something about the Mistborn series and reading about Hoid. I’d completely missed him being in multiple books.
Ever since learning of the connections though, I’ve really been watching for them. So I’m always stupidly pleased when I notice a connection on my own.
I’m so glad I found Brandon Sanderson. I’d actually picked up Mistborn because the back of the book intrigued me, “but what if the prophesied hero lost?”
But then I didn’t read it. It sat on my shelf for years until I learned that Sanderson would be finishing Jorden’s Wheel of Time series and went “wait, that name is familiar...okay, now I want to see this man’s works for myself.”
He asked Kal what Heightening he was before realizing he was a Surgebinder, so he’s familiar with Breath. And Kal noted that the man shouldn’t be able to see him and the tongues of the spren weren’t high enough to be seen.

I cackled.
