But we just watched "On Angel's Wings", and there's a scene where Erik's talking to Warren in the church, and the camera does a close-up on Erik's shadowed face, and the way it crops his cape folds looked EXACTLY like Onslaught's pauldrons
Not to turn this into an Ultimate discussion, but I will say that, among the concepts I actually liked: Colossus' powers and how he needed to use the Banshee drug (not something I want becoming a part of the character, but an interesting take); Colossus' sexuality; Kitty and Spidey; Psylocke and how they worked in her bodyswitch (much less convoluted than
in mainline canon); Pyro's initial run as a member of the team (let's ignore the later stuff that turned him into a sicko and a rapist); Emma's rival academy (but hey, that was mostly just echoes of the Hellions and Generation X for me); Ultimate Dazzler (again, not as a replacement for 616 Ali)
Also, they did such a good job building Scott and Rogue's romantic chemistry that I wish they'd gotten another season, since there were plans for Jean to go Phoenix-crazy and end up with Scott and Rogue getting closer
I actually think there's some interesting stuff to get into there. The powers that force them into keeping a distance from others. The need for control of one's environment that can engender, because one mistake, one moment of weakness could cause so much damage
I think the biggest thing that could be explored is that he. Doesn't know how to relate to people. At all. He's an emotionally-stunted man who's been raised, even with the best of intentions in an environment that cared for him, to be a soldier and bannerman for mutantkind.
Hell, it's entirely likely that he and Jean were together as much for the familiarity and stability that it presented as any kind of actual romantic connection.
I think so? I'm a bad fan - I haven't been keeping up in the past... god knows how many years. I've been picking and choosing my books, because so many of them get mired in their own hype.
and yes I know Onslaught's design is based on Magneto shut your trapsScott's actually my favorite, thanks Whedon
