BWAAAAAH!
I'm thinking back to one of my favorite short Sci-Fi stories
BWAAAAAH!
By Larry Niven, I think
BWAAAAAH!
Wherein this guy is sitting in the park watching a kid play around
BWAAAAAH!
The kid finds a caterpillar in the middle of a sidewalk and picks it up to save it
BWAAAAAH!
Then shows it to a guy who has the look of someone from space before gently putting it on a tree to be safe
BWAAAAAH!
The space guy freaks out
BWAAAAAH!
When the narrator asks him what's up, the space guy recounts a story of how he got to Earth
BWAAAAAH!
He was in his space ship somewhere out in the stars
BWAAAAAH!
And his ship had broken down, so he was stranded
BWAAAAAH!
He was coming to terms with dying when some sort of massive entity appeared
BWAAAAAH!
And grabbed his ship
BWAAAAAH!
And gently deposited on the Earth
BWAAAAAH!
Which I like as a concept
BWAAAAAH!
That some kind of elder space god could be motivated by an idle whim of compassion to save a doomed astronaut
BWAAAAAH!
Who was clearly in a place he should not have been
You're Quinner
"off you go"
EsperBot
That's Niven, all right.
EsperBot
I remember the one.
BWAAAAAH!
I'm afraid to go back and read anything by Niven
BWAAAAAH!
because I'm PRETTY SURE a lot of his shit is gonna seem SUPER SEXIST by modern standards
BWAAAAAH!
But he had a lot of cool ideas
EsperBot
I can confirm that a lot of his shit is fairly sexist.
EsperBot
Maybe not quite Heineken bad, but fairly bad.
BWAAAAAH!
Yeah I read a synopsis of Ringworld
EsperBot
*Heinlein
BWAAAAAH!
after actually reading it in my teens
BWAAAAAH!
And just from the synopsis and from my memories of it I was like "What the fuck"
