[a star war] I saw it today! (spoilers probably)

I enjoyed it!

admittedly I went in kind of determined to have a good time bc anything that upsets white dudes on the internet is my jam

the characterisation was a little.... hard to pin down

but thematically I liked it

relatable

rose is gr8

finn is my son

rey is my daughter

poe is fun

ben needs to put his shirt on and go have a timeout with a juice box

most importantly I am ready to dive into the Porg Discourse now

my brother has been babbling about the film because he babbles about everything but he got the impression that the supreme leader's name was Snork

themes that are my jam that I thought the film had interesting/competent takes on:

failure is ok!!!!!

Rose's backstory, the alluded-to class stuff and the fact they got to smash the fuck out of casino planet

(maybe a personal thing too cause most of my family either outright gamble or just really love the casino ~aesthetic~.... my mum chose to get married in vegas, if you need a picture)

the question of heroes continuing to exist as people after the stories of heroes get away from them

fuck yeah poc in space

and ok there were a lot of laugh out loud moments that I don't really remember so much from tfa or r1

it was a fun film, I'm not nearly enough of a sw nerd to bother ranking them but I enjoyed it a lot
