But also, the characters themselves suffer from mental illnesses or abuse, and Monika driving them to suicide might make someone with similar symptoms feel really uneasy
As someone who battles with crippling depression and has cut in the past, yeah, I can see why it would make people uneasy, but at the same time, this is something that I feel is sorely needed.
Like... it's very rare to see mental illness/abuse portrayed like this where it doesn't pull punches, and the idea that "enhancing" the illness can drive a person to drastic measures is something that I feel people that don't have to deal with that sort of thing just... don't understand
Hell, I'd even argue that the first half or so being very generic/cookie cutter is a good thing too, highlighting how people with mental illness/abuse issues aren't... y'know... visible in that regard, if that makes any sense.
I suppose in that sense it does hit home. People who suffer mentally don't exactly parade around the fact that they're suffering, and more often than not just want to appear normal. It's just that the "normal" in the game felt too anime-y for me, if you get what I mean.
Like, I'm not trying to diminish your perspective. I don't mean to come across like that. I absolutely 100% get that it's not for everyone. It just hit home for me, and I was offering an explanation to why. >.>
Might've been the "I'd even argue..." ^^;; But not all confrontation is bad. Though it sounded like you wanted to challenge my view, I thought about it and just still felt the same as I did before. That's all~

: Whichever you choose, I'm sure you'll have a less angry experience than me lol. Forgot to mention this too but cookie cutter anime girls are my bane and tend to infuriate me for no good reason >.>
I don't even know if that's how I'm coming across, I'm just paranoidyou might be better off playing Undertale instead coughI guess I have no excuse for undertale since I have steam now, granted playing things on PC is still very hard.
