I read that one and it's sequel (along with tons and tons of other sci-fi/horror/fantasy stuff) from the school library and, idk, lots of those books have really stuck with me

I didn't care as much for the sequel, but I liked it a little bit better on a second read.

I remember really liking the sequel, mostly for the section of the book with the crabs and parasites. I remember mostly thinking it was really clever and kinda terrifying

Yeah, it has some really cool ideas, there were just a few things about it that frustrated me. The new aliens were really neat.

It's pretty cool and feels a little Gravity Falls-ish, it's about a set of twins going to a deceased relative's house and finding something weird going on.
