Does this apply to positions that list an upfront wage and state it's non-negotiable? I've run across those before

companies won't rescind an offer just because you asked for more money

it's true there is literally no downside to asking for more money

even if there is no possible way you will turn down the offer even if they don't give you more money

the worst that happens is that they say no and you... still accept the offer for the initially offered pay...

yes. you wanting more money will never mean they aren't willing to offer the money they already put on the table

like there are probably people somewhere in the world who are literally so unreasonable that they would in fact not hire you just because you dARED to ask for more money and not be SLOBBERINGLY GRATEFUL THE DEIGNED TO OFFER YOU A JOB but those people will abuse you because anyone who thinks you don't deserve a job just because you tried to negotiate
