I had to leave the house to pick up some last minute cat food because I forgot to run out earlier today

and one of the neighborhood strays had been hit by a car, a small kitten

I'd seen it around and left a little food out for it once or twice
ᴬ⭐ᴵᴼᴺ
it'd already passed away and from what I could tell it wasn't terribly traumatic
ᴬ⭐ᴵᴼᴺ
but I'm so upset
ᴬ⭐ᴵᴼᴺ
our area has too many feral cats to help all of them; they utilize a catch and release system so the most anyone can do is leave out a little food or a shelter in the winter

I still feel like I knew that kitten because of how often I'd seen it and tried to help it
ᴬ⭐ᴵᴼᴺ
I can't stop crying
