Mr Trump is likely to visit Texas early next week, the White House said. Isn't that a bit too early? Won't they need the roads in compromised areas to be reserved for rescue efforts?
I could have sworn that was one of the reasons why Obama held off on visiting an area in the South (Louisiana, it might have been) that was suffering from flooding or something similar till local rescue efforts got more work done
Just because it's foolish doesn't mean Trump won't do it. Just because he said he'd do it doesn't mean he will. I would take anything the White House announces with a shaker of salt.
Yeah, when that hurricane had pretty much destroyed Louisiana, Obama was going to go there, but the governor specifically requested that he didn't because of how much his presence would draw away from the relief effort.
hilariously, i think Obama's presence would have actually helped the effort. i think it was more of an issue of all the white people freaking out about "gang violence" that had them warning Obama away, tbqh
Yeah, I think it was more that Obama (and his family) would have totally be there to actually pitch in and help with the relief effort? But they were more worried about the cost of keeping him safe while he was helping everyone out. But, I'm not from Louisiana nor have I been there, so that could well be the reason too.
Trump's probably going to go to Texas, do his usual diatribe of how he's a winner and look he's the president, rack up a bunch of costs, and then leave without having done anything.
On Tuesday, Glenn Simpson, founder of private research firm Fusion GPS who hired Steele to produce the dossier, testified for 10 hours in front of the Senate Judiciary Comm. He also provided 40k pages of documents.
both Steele's rep and Rachel Maddow have greenlit for the transcript to be released. Maddow probably because MSNBC got a number of the scoops mentioned in the testimony
...this may be a little awful of me, and I know McCain is problematic in other ways, but I love the fact that as soon as he was diagnosed, he was basically, "Fuck this shit," over everything.
... okay basically cybersecurity isn't all that different from administration to administration because the needs stay the same so it's kinda eyebrow raising that so many resigned at once
"Myanmar soldiers opened fire on fleeing Rohingya civilians - mostly women and children - as they attempted to cross the border into Bangladesh and escape surging violence. "
"On Saturday an AFP news agency reporter at Bangladesh's Ghumdhum border post counted more than a dozen mortar shells and countless machine gun rounds fired by Myanmar security forces in nearby hills onto a large group of Rohingya desperately trying to cross. "
AP should be reporting on Paul Ryan's latest real estate purchase in Wisconsin and his plans on moving in the near future. Pictures of the property to follow:
the unnamed speaker (of the house), does not agree with this decision, which was made by some unnamed party. We should not let anyone believe that responsibility is diminished by this pardon - this pardon made, once again, my an unnamed person, pardoning another unnamed person
I'm honestly not surprised by the Myanmar attacking their own people. I'm more surprised that any outside news agency covered it. Last i heard they didn't allow foreign reporters into the country
okay folks i live outside of houston, and rn it is impossible to get into or leave the city proper due to flooding. if you're looking to donate, you can find some places here and here to donate.
just fyi for anyone else who likes to argue with idiots on the internet: there are still people who think GamerGate was about Ethics In Game Journalism
obama is my dude but afaik red cross is not on the ground in houston rn because they can't get in, except the in-city branch. locals are still doin' the work.
those donations will help tremendously later but if you want to help right now, i linked some lists of places to donate that are hard at work right this second. you'll have to scroll up a bit.
so just a reminder that we've gotten foreign aid from Mexico before when we really needed it, and considering we have a nutjob calling to build a stupid wall between us and mexico... /GESTURES
Gorka is full of it. The alt-reich don't have a master plan, they have tried-and-true fascist tactics. Every time any of them has talked about "nth dimensional chess" they were trying to give more credit than was due to the nonsensical moves of such as Trump.
I'm not saying take them lightly, because we've seen the damage they're capable of, but know the enemy. They don't have a masterful grand strategy, they're good at capitalizing on things such as fear. Be aware and cautious, not terrified.
Anything they say that is obviously an attempt to create fear in the left is tantamount to an admission that they don't have a better weapon in that scenario.

Trump's pardon power does not extend to state offenses. Contact the Arizona Attorney General and ask that Arpaio be tried under Arizona law.
Schumer: "The only reason to do these right now is to use the cover of Hurricane Harvey to avoid scrutiny"
... and threatens to become a stain on the president’s legacy.
Okay but is there anything this man has done that isn't a strain on his legacy?
