Year of the Cat i just uncovered some notes about winter that ivar is going to like

somewhere buried in my notes i basically found a plan for winter to be devoid of emotion, as some sort of magic-based birth defect. or, not entirely devoid but she has a lot of trouble feeling emotions that aren't incredibly strong. like ivar!

she has no murderous intent, but she is extremely dangerous and has trouble feeling remorse or empathy... so it'll be good for both of them for him to be keeping an eye on that.

tl;dr winter is quite literally cursed by the gods

Aw. Poor little mite. Ivar is going to end up caring for her so much. It'll be good for him to have someone other than Letha to love.

ivar: HAVE YOU SEEN MY DAUGHTER. she's not lost or anything i just think you should see her. she's the coolest thing you'll ever see.

Lol that is exactly how he's going to be. Just the proudest dad and wanting to tell everyone. He's going to want to teach her all the Viking ways too. I can see her proudly proclaiming to Letha when she's like 6 that she's going to grow up to be a shieldmaiden.

letha's gonna be proud in a distant and detached way. "that's nice honey don't. don't touch me."

and then the moment winter gets in a fight letha will swoop in to attack whoever was fighting her. even if it's a little kid.

Hehehe. And Ivar is just standing there letting them be because they can fight their own battles and he's amused by the two of them fighting.

letha is 10000% willing to kick a child to protect her daughter but negative percent willing to actually talk to her and learn about her interests.

and my one wish is for her to get called out on that enough to start making an effort to change.

Oh, Ivar will definitely do that. He'll be like, you won't take an interest? I'll make you take an interest. Probably have all sorts of horrible fights about it. It's a good thing he'll be such an adoring dad. She'll need it to grow up somewhat balanced.
