英國倫敦格倫菲大樓（Grenfell Tower）惡火，造成至少79人死亡，當局為了避免憾事再度發生，針對高樓建築物展開消防安檢，倫敦北部屬於Chalcots地產的5座大樓，昨天（23日）晚間就基於安全因素考量撤離4000多人，等安檢完畢才讓住戶返家。

據《紐約時報》報導，由於這些高樓的外部包覆材料，和格倫菲大樓非常相似，因此倫敦市政府連忙將住戶撤離。然而整個疏散行動是混亂的，許多人半夜裡從住家出來後不知所措，甚至不知道自己會被送去哪裡留置。

當地居民富勒（Justin Fuller）表示，他的妻子被消防部門通知要撤離，對方還提醒他們要打包至少可應付4個星期的行李，卻沒有告訴他們離開家後晚上要住哪。

北倫敦卡姆登議會（Camden Council）主席古爾德（Georgia Gould）指出，把居民搬到臨時的住所，是個非常困難的決定，但格倫菲大火改變了一切，居民們的生命安全必須放在第一順位。
