like he actually came in our house once when we weren't there without giving us notice

that's expressly illegal in our state unless there's an emergency

he gave the excuse it was 'bed bugs' which isn't an emergency

and mia always flinched from the maintenance dude after that, most likely because he sprayed her with rubbing alchohol

(because she was. doing her job and probably attacked them, she never liked marcus to begin with)

we got her from the shelter at one year old and for a LONG time she'd flinch or try to run away whenever I held like. a book or a laptop closed in my hand

It took our dog 6 months just to warm up to SOME of our family because she was horribly abused too. =x= That really boils my blood

like more often than not she'll walk away if you call, it has to be on her terms (most likely when she's woken up and I'm lying down)

she's gotten a LOT better about it but it's hard not to notice she's always slightly nervous whenever I'm petting her

(I have held her down to do things like comb out her fur and get rid of underhair, which she needs because she's double coated or work out knots in her beard, which she hates)
