Axe Goth Real?
Ask me about worldbuilding and OCs.
paradisaea
well, one, have vehicles had to be modified for this successor sucks? what's transit like.
paradisaea
two, to cut hannah off at the pass--tell me your favorite oc/ship and why.
Axe Goth Real?
Transit's about the same as it is in the current world. It's only been about ten years since magic hit things so people are still working it out.
paradisaea
ooh
paradisaea
for some reason I assumed longer...
Axe Goth Real?
No, dungeoneering is an emerging field, that's why the it's adapted to the Uber model; people don't know how to handle it.
Axe Goth Real?
Now, if you mean within the Tower itself, there's an elevator system of sorts that uses coordinates in lieu of just buttons, and seems to be able to move in more than just two directions.
Axe Goth Real?
But you kind of need to know the right code to go up and down floors.
Axe Goth Real?
And a floor could in theory have multiple elevator points, too.
Axe Goth Real?
And in theory once people understand it better they might be able to build it to head all the way back into the Base Town.
Axe Goth Real?
To answer your second question.... Oof. That I need to think about for a second.
Axe Goth Real?
Favorite character... I don't know if I really have one. I have the most fondness for Isao, because that's a finished arc, and because of the nature of his creation and being played out, it wasn't one I had full control over. He went from someone who couldn't hold up the ideals or the image he wanted to someone who surpassed them and wound up dead for them.
Axe Goth Real?
And there's aspects I wish had gone down differently but I like overall the arc, because it's a story that I feel doesn't get told: the guy who starts with nothing and while he does great things, never actually gets that happy ending. His wife dies. He never has the kid he wants; he adopts them, which is fitting given his own relationships, but.
Axe Goth Real?
And he dies. He pushes himself too far and finally dies because he had to play hero rather than actually cede things to the new generation like he promised he would. He makes a big deal about legacy but he doesn't live long enough to watch what little of one he has and what they do for the world. His logic was he was protecting it, but still.
Axe Goth Real?
I guess that's why it amused me when we all toyed with the 100 years later arc that someone, I think Rikki, specified that his prototype cyberarm was in the museum. Because that detail is the sort of thing that would have mattered to him: that people gave a shit, centuries later, that some random street punk came out of nowhere to help save the world.
Axe Goth Real?
But for all I can gush about him, for all he is my favorite in some aspects, he's a done character. His story's told, he might make cameos in other games and settings or get dusted off to play once in a blue moon, he's not really in the running for such a consideration anymore.
Axe Goth Real?
anyone replaced him? No. Alexei's come close a few times, as has Masaru. I'm fond of the myriad versions of Johnny that have come to be, because they kind of all tell a neat story about a guy who, over a thousand lives, can't catch a break, but nobody's really gotten the chance to have that kind of arc again.
Axe Goth Real?
As for ship... hmm. I don't think I can pick one. It's not like with favorite character, it's just I deeply enjoyed all of them, by and large, and they all do some pretty neat things that're different.
Axe Goth Real?
I think the answer there might just be "which one is being played or talked about right now?"
paradisaea
owo
paradisaea
well, do you have a top 5? Like, no particular order, just, 'these five stand out'?
Axe Goth Real?
I will always have a soft spot for Masaru and Misaki, because they were the best thing to come out of that shithole of a game and were kind of weirdly emblematic for us.
Axe Goth Real?
The cycle of Johnnies and weird relationship drama, no matter who or which version of Johnny, deserves a spot.
Axe Goth Real?
Ros and Alexei go on there because that's probably the only part of Alexei I don't occasionally find myself disliking.
paradisaea
wandering back in here to ask more things: is there a particular verse or setting you've always sort of itched to revisit? ...Disallowing this town sucks or it's variants because that answers itself.
Axe Goth Real?
Also, every version of This Town Sucks is really different: the original was slice of life with korean MMO monster grinding, the reboot was post-apocalyptic dystopia, and this one is more I guess dungeon crawling urban fantasy, so there's never really been a uniting theme beyond there's a town and it sucks.

Axe Goth Real?
Sorry, was jsut turning off my PS4.
Axe Goth Real?
The region for Kill Coax Wait was cool and I feel bad we didn't get to explore it all that much. I miss some of the stuff for that poor Valor attempt. I feel like a couple of the Final Fantasy settings were going somewhere and then just fell apart because brain weasels and deadlines and frustration...
Axe Goth Real?
The one we were designing for the webcomic/visual novel had legs.
Axe Goth Real?
There was a second JRPG-esque one I was designing for Valor, also post-apocalyptic, but a lot more standard fantasy since I think I get too caught up in trying to make things work in finnicky little ways, sometimes.
Axe Goth Real?
I might dust it off.
