What is the normal lifespan of a daily-used tablet? Mine doesn't seem to hold a charge anymore

How long have you used it (in years), what kind is it, how long do you use it on an average day, how often do you reboot it, and have you tried clearing its cache or closing apps if iOS?

And have you tried reducing to a minimum the number of apps that automatically refresh, and for those that you want to automatically refresh, increasing the time between refreshes?

And how many hours per day does the charge last? I often plug my iPad in early evening to give it a bit of a boost, and charge it overnight. But then, I'll use my iPad heavily for over 10 hours per day.

If it comes back to life I think I'll do some drastic weeding

If it's the Nexus 7 from 2012 or any other inexpensive Asus from that era, it's surprising it still works; it's on borrowed time. I gave up on my Nexus 7 2012 long ago.

The ASUS tablets had subpar memory. Terrible performance after its last Android OS update.

Yep. Look for anything else, and it'll be 50,000 times better.
