there needs to be an SL chat for pc/mac, so you can login for chat, without running the viewer.

Radegast is around, yeah

Theres a 3d capabilities in radegast too hut it is very very very very basic. So you're not gonna see anything fancy. It's lightweight but can do things like give people stuff, access land tools etc
