Many places have both in working order but it's not a perfect system yet and one day you may chip while another you may swipe at the same location.

Pin is not new but chip is.

We have always used pin to get cash back at the store.

Or if the system detects debit card at all. Or you can sign.

ah It's been around for years here. I have never been able to sign
