Awe
well I have started making preliminary notes for Anime Cops: the tabletop campaign
Quinnfernal
what kind of anime cops are we talking here
Awe
Small, intentionally diverse team that as a whole is kind of a loose cannon
Quinnfernal
so something like You're Under Arrest or Patlabor?
Awe
I'm not familiar with either of those but I'll take a look at them
Quinnfernal
I've never actually seen the former but it's pretty well-known
Quinnfernal
Patlabor is Anime Mecha Cops
Quinnfernal
the longest running manga series ever is also wacky anime cops
Quinnfernal
anyway sounds like a fun premise
Awe
Yep. The PCs will be their own division, the "Experimental Active Cooperation Team" or EXACT
Awe
Based on the synopses a little closer to Patlabor than You're Under Arrest but with less mecha (not none, just less)
Quinnfernal
even research aside I'd rec Patlabor, it's a lot of fun
Awe
The most direct inspiration being Zero no Kiseki, which could be described as Anime Cops: the JRPG
Demon Woman
I was gonna mention Kochikame but someone beat me to it!
Princess Emily
anime cops are the only good kind of cop
Awe
it is good to have support in this
Awe
unrelated to all that I look at "Patlabor" and want to pronounce it PAT-la-bore
Awe
but apparently it is pat-LA-bur
Awe
and I am not sure where it is available to be watched
Awe
anyway, today was mostly broad setting details such as the central city's name (Daybreak City), government, a couple key features (but there will be more)
Awe
and probably most importantly one of the reasons magic-ish combat skills are a thing
Awe
(basically, there's a kind of energy-capacitive mineral)
Awe
(when heated, it can be used to start fires, etc.)
