This student sent me a tl;dr email about why his final paper is 4 pages short. I was in the middle of rolling my eyes and going "oh my god the excuse is longer than the paper I got what hell" and then he ends

with "I'm not sending this email for a sob story or a better grade, I just felt lost and needed to explain myself. Out of all my professors I know you actually care because that day in your office you offered

to talk. I declined in order to make it to work on time but in reality I definitely needed to talk. "

and NOW I KIND OF FEEL LIKE AN ASS =X

like I try to be really accommodating when Real Stuff pops up but at the same time it's not like the final was a surprise

they've had a month to do it
