You know retconning 'half human Doctor', while popular at the time, was probably the first mistake leading to Moffat's ridiculously over the top Doctor.

"Monsters have nightmares of me" was just kind of cute and amusing

But making him full Time Lord just reinforces the Time Lord fanboying

"he's just so far beyond humans, totally unintelligble to humans, far removed from simple humanity" etc

The half human thing explaining why he was sympathetic toward humanity was odd, but at least it hardcoded him as sympathetic

sometimes I think Moffat forgets the Doctor loves humanity, because he's too busy making him so amazing
