i'm confused about data - is there a certain limit you can use each month or is it just the data you're currently using
xaris
how do i future
Cinnamuffin
it's different for each carrier and how it's displayed, but usually if you're talking plans, that's how much you can use per month. what are you looking at?
xaris
i'm on a prepaid plan with tracfone so i'm mainly trying to figure out how much wifi i can use in a month
xaris
there's wifi and there's this other icon that's like. arrows going up and down
誓い
The icon with the arrows going up and down is data - it depends on the plan, but more than likely you have a limited amount that you can use each month.
誓い
If you're connected to wifi, though, it won't cut into that data limit.
xaris
oh, should i turn the icon with the arrows off then
誓い
Nah. As long as you're connected to wifi, you shouldn't be using data.
誓い
The best way to find out is to just play with your phone's settings for awhile and get a feel for how everything works.
xaris
i would think since you can use wifi on literally anything else you wouldn't really be charged for it
xaris
but phone companies are weird
Cinnamuffin
they can't charge you for wifi use unless it's using their own service. say like if you have your internet service at home through A and your cellular service is through B. B can't charge you for using wifi
Cinnamuffin
because A is the provider for this, and that'd be theft of A's profits. but there are some cellular services that can provide home internet as well. you're likely not using this though.
Cinnamuffin
even if your home internet service and cellular service are with the same company, they would have to be using the same account for you to be charged. if that makes sense.
