TODAY ENDED LOUSY. Preemptively: last I heard the dog was fine. Inside this plurk: fretting over a dog I rushed to the vet for breathing issues.

This poor little yorkie. ;A; At check in I was alerted to her having anxiety and some variety of throat problem. The family was very Russian with only one person translating, so the details were unclear but

we definitely communicated and confirmed that nothing was ever to be put around her neck. Nothing ever was. She was in a harness the whole time.
Clear
She was so sweet and gentle and gave me no problems, but her tongue turned blue while I was on the phone with her people telling them I'd be done in ten minutes. (She'd been there barely an hour.)
Clear
Okay short version I told her people change in plans and took her to the vet. They put the poor little girl on oxygen and I was still there holding her the whole time until her parents arrived QnQ
Clear
According to my managers, who took over, her people didn't seem all that concerned? LIke that was normal for her? But I was a wreck. That poor baby.
Clear
Friends, if your pet's tongue turns blue when pink is the normal color, that is not a good thing

oh no :< I'd be a wreck, too! that poor dog needs some longer-term treatment!
Clear
Yeah. 8C Somehow the vet people managed to communicate that. I saw two techs accompanying the parents and dog with the oxygen tank out to the parking lot and somehow the whole lot of them went to

the nearest emergency vet

(One of those 24-hour deals versus our little in-store vet.)

An hour and a half later a manager came and told me the dog was still being treated, but improving.
Clear
That poor little girl. She wasn't even very old, only five years.
cacopheny
that's hardly old at all, for a yorkie. must be some other kind of problem, hereditary, maybe
Clear
The best impression I got was that she was injured at another salon somehow? They mentioned something being put around her neck on a table and were very wary of that being done again
Clear
The vets definitely agreed preexisting problem. Her anxiety suddenly escalating was a trigger but not cause
Siv
Oh no..
