Doing a complete restore of the lappy to try and stop it running like a snail. Why must this always take so long?

that's a 'harddisk' but with memory chips in instead of a spinning disk. They are much faster and less noisy. Consume less power as well so your battery last longer.

also more expensive

It's all reformatted now and working fine. It didn't take too long. I'm just super impatient.

I copied over all my data from one disc to another this week (moving to a bigger one). That did last 2 1/2 hours. >.<
