Hey so when you're talking about art and paintings and whatnot, what do you call it when the subject of the painting is staring straight at the viewer

like for film or photography you say 'looking towards the camera'

you know you've been on tumblr too long when your first thought is 'scopophobia'

Yeah those seemed instinctively right to me but I am not at all an arty type, thought I'd check

In some cases you would just refer to it as breaking the fictive plane/space, but I'm not sure if there's a term specifically for portraits
