[GoT] So that's what a Red Wedding looks like...
Tonberry King
Enh, seemed a bit more Mauve to me
Furikuchan
Am I the only one who got up and did a happy dance at the Red Wedding? I mean, come on
Water Friend
I cheered when I got to it in the book
Furikuchan
Catelyn Stark was my most hated character, Robb, there wasn't even enough there to hate, he was just so bland.
Water Friend
I loathed them both tbh
Water Friend
I wanted to see Robb die because I wanted him to experience the consequences of a fuckwit trying to declare himself king
Furikuchan
Robb is, like, I mean, he's not even better in the show. The writing is better, because it's kind of obnoxious that in the book we never know why he even wants to be king.
Furikuchan
We never see anything from his point of view, so it never comes off as anything genuine, its like he's doing this because Mommy Says So.
Furikuchan
In the show, we kind of see his point of view...except that there's still nothing there.
Furikuchan
Gimme Arya's sense of vengeance, gimme Sansa's fear and uncertainty, even gimme Jon's sense of 'I have no fucking idea of what I'm doing' gimme SOMETHING.
Furikuchan
I hate Jon too, but at least there's a character there to hate.
Water Friend
Ohhhhh my god I hate Jon so much
Water Friend
Like of all the characters I hate in ASOIAF (which is basically all of them) I hate him the most
Water Friend
Jon is the only character that actively makes me angry on an entirely non-meta basis
Furikuchan
I mean, I actively dont get the Red Wedding hype for one key reason: what, in the story, was changed by Robb Stark being in it? If anyone else can find something, I'm all ears.
Furikuchan
But seriously, I dont think he ever actually DID anything.
Water Friend
You mean what in the story was changed by him getting the axe, or by him being there instead of getting assassinated some other way?
Furikuchan
By the fact that Robb Stark existed at all. What impact did he have on this story?
Furikuchan
This War Of The Five Kings could've really been better done with, like, three. The show wrote out Greyjoy almost entirely. Couldn't we have done this with just Stannis and Renley?
Water Friend
Yeah, that's very true
TheGreatCurator
Oh, I didn't miss anyone after it was over. But I did my best to insulate myself from spoilers and hype, so the event itself was actually a bit of a surprise.
Furikuchan
OH neat! Yeah, that's a thing. Boltons are hardcore, yo.
TheGreatCurator
I mean, yes, I'd heard the phrase "Red Wedding," so I knew that something was coming at some point. But I didn't actually know when in the show it happened.
Furikuchan
The way that scene was done was very effective, I will give it that. The musician that starts suddenly playing Rains of Castamere, brrr.
TheGreatCurator
You know who I hated to see die the most? The wolf. Penned up with nowhere to go, and poor Arya getting to watch. She needs to go all level 20 swashbuckler-ninja on everyone before it's all over.
Furikuchan
I did feel worse for Grey Wind than I did for Robb.
Water Friend
Yeah, it sucks to be the wolves basically
