Ken
Some talk about Fantastic Four and its director, from CBR
Ken
Not encouraging.
Ken
(And if true it might not be a terrible thing he's not doing Rogue One now.)
Guardian Bear J
(morning)
Guardian Bear J
Problems with the Fantastic Four films? Must be a day of the week.
Ken
Aye, but that's just. I don't understand how Deadpool is coming from Fox. It's like night and day.
Ken
If all that's accurate, then FF's filming was basically a freaking disaster, and one of the producers from is is also one of the producers on Rogue One, and well.
Ken
It did not give Disney a whole lot of confidence in handing him freaking Star Wars.
.。❅⋆ʟʏʟɪᴛʜ⋆❅。.
I am as excited for this movie as I am for the ANTMAN one
Ken
Actually I'm pretty looking forward to Ant-Man. Marvel has its shit together pretty well, and at least it has people who actually did their jobs and more so.
.。❅⋆ʟʏʟɪᴛʜ⋆❅。.
well the trailers didn't really interests me much but i'll give them the benefit of the doubt . But the F4...
Ken
Oh, no. The FF movie is sounding like a hot mess.
Ken
With Ant-Man it's more clear cut of "Wright had creative differences, left the project, they replaced him, several people worked their asses off, things moved along."
Battler
I want F4 to be half decent.
Battler
I really do, even though Reed is terrible.
Ken
If it is, it looks like it will be in spite of all odds.
Battler
Why do they keep trying to make Fantastic Four movies?
Battler
Seriously.
Guardian Bear J
Because FOX doesn't want to let Marvel have the rights to the films back.
Ken
Because Fox is stubborn and wants to squat on the rights, so they have to make a movie NO MATTER WHAT.
Ken
No matter how awful it is.
Ken
So long as they make a movie, they retain the rights to continue doing so.
Guardian Bear J
Why they don't just make a Direct to Download movie and save themselves a couple million dollars is beyond me.
Ken
I'm almost half shocked they let the Daredevil rights lapse.
Guardian Bear J
Seriously, just remake the 80s FF cartoons, FOX.
Ken
The rights probably specify theatrical releases, I imagine.
Guardian Bear J
Well then.
Ken
Rights are a fickle thing. Like how for a couple years Disney had the TV rights to Spider-Man, but not the movie rights.
Guardian Bear J
Remake the 80s FF Cartoons for the theaters in glorious HD.
Ken
(Because they don't want to give Fox free publicity.)
Battler
No, I mean why do they keep trying? There has literally never been a good F4 movie.
Ken
Because the sick thing is?
Ken
The first Fox FF movie was still profitable.
Ken
And so was Rise of The Silver Surfer. ... Internationally.
Ken
And they're banking on slapping "Marvel" at the start of the movie and making money off that
Ken
which
Ken
they may well
Guardian Bear J
I'm shocked Marvel hasn't put a stop to that, honestly... ... unless they're charging them for the right to do it.
Guardian Bear J
Which they probably are.
Ken
They keep getting the updated logo bumper so I imagine they are.
Ken
Hulk with Universal, etc.
Ken
But Universal was the smartest in that they played ball from the start of the MCU.
Ken
Of course, on paper, ASM2 was technically successful. But I think they actually took the critical response to heart, amazingly, and probably considered what that would mean for future movies.
Ken
Compiled with their own financial discourse.
Ken
yeeeeeep
Ken
ASM2 wasn't just about being profitable on its own
Ken
It had to be profitable enough for the ENTIRE COMPANY and well
Ken
(And the Interview and leak fiasco can't have helped their financials, which coincidentally happened right before they announced this deal.)
Ken
Yep.
