some alarm went off in my room at 3AM for no apparent reason, ear-bleedingly loud for like 20 minutes

i mean, I assume it was an alarm and I asssume it was in my room, it was so loud I couldn't tell where anything was coming from and I was too groggy coming from a dead sleep to think clearly

I turned off all the fuses and unplugged the carbon monoxide and fire alarms and it still kept going

then as I was getting ready to go out and get help (who?) it randomly stopped

i still have no idea what caused it so now I'm afraid to plug my fire alarm back in (though it has a battery since it chirped until that was replaced)

but I don't want to leave the house without a fire alarm... though obviously they are loud enough to wake up the whole building...

now that I don't feel like puking I feel like I should do more investigation but I just don't want it to make that noise, so I don't want to touch anything...

I mean, I was asleep, nothing had been on except the radio and the air diffuser, as it has been every night for the past two years...

That's...pretty loud.
