Finished reading "The Hound of the Baskervilles".

It wasn't the jaw-dropping masterpiece of fiction that I had been led to believe it was, but it was still pretty good.

Holmes - in this story at least - is a bit of a dick, even if it resulted in solving the case.

I'm actually kind of surprised that it's taken me so long to read a Sherlock Holmes story.

the speckled band is considered the best of the stories

The Hound of the Baskervilles was interesting in that it was written after Doyle decided to kill Holmes off, but set it as a 'before his death' story so the public would stop harassing him about it
