aaaand roommate is passively-aggressively running the dishwasher because cousin used all the spoons and didn't wash them/put them in the dishwasher
Pipkin
normally I would say this is progress, as she's apparently been scared of the dishwasher
Pipkin
buuuut she doesn't finish loading it before she runs it, I can tell you for sure that there are two plates and a cup still sitting in the sink, and that there's still room in the washer for them.
Pipkin
and the worst part is, I can never tell if she just doesn't know, or if she's actually doing it to be p/a
Pipkin
(she's socially ... well not awkward, but off a bit, so I would say it's about an 85-90% chance that she just doesn't know, but if I go ask that turns me into the bad guy)
Tal
Hey i finally left you a tag on your ABO verse thing. Was it okay? I am heading off to bed now, but i will be around tomorrow
#noperaptor
it's possible roomie missed it :Ia
Pipkin
Sooooo I think I'm going to make an infographic: "Top rack: Drinkware (cups & glasses) Plastics (containers, spatulas, scrapers) Small Bowls"
"Bottom rack: Plates, regular bowls, flatware"
#noperaptor
at least it was only three things. If she'd missed more, I'd probably say p/a
Pipkin
yeeea, doubtful, the sink is basically right on top of the dishwasher
Pipkin
and it's only three because that's what cousin used today? (And maybe that's why she does it, IDK man)
Pipkin
Tal : oh shoot! I didn't see it, I must have turned email alerts off like a moron, I'll check asap! (and I'm sure it's fine)
Pipkin
But also second sheet: "Before running the dishwasher - a checklist:
1 are there dishes in the sink?
1a is there space for them in the dishwasher?
2: put them in the dishwasher!
3: turn OFF the heated dry
Pipkin
4: now run the dishwasher!
Pipkin
but I don't know if that makes me into the p/a jerk
Pipkin
(and the what goes where is because neither roomie or cousin grew up with dishwashers? So they kind of just put things in wherever and that's ... not good)
Tal
I grew up without a dishwasher and I know how to load one. Only just started using one about 2 years ago and I thought it was kinda obvious.
Pipkin
I would have thought so too, but I keep opening it to find mugs on the bottom rack
Pipkin
which I mean, isn't the end of the world, but that's not where they go
Pipkin
(and tbf, I don't know if they did or not, I'm just guessing by the fact that roomie always hand-washes and cousin just loads haphazardly)
Pipkin
the way I learned it, you don't want to put glassware or plastics on the bottom, because the water's stronger/hotter and they run a higher risk of melting or breaking on the bottom rack
Pipkin
which is why most plastic dishware says 'top rack only' right there on it
Pipkin
huh! I wonder if dishwashers over there are different just like clothes washers are
Pipkin
and I was right: the spoons she was complaining about being out of? There's five of them in the sink instead of in the dishwasher to get clean
Pipkin
I have no idea how this helps.
Pipkin
(Unless, of course, it's the whole 'someone else used them I'm not touching them' thing, but IDK. Gonna make the signs anyway, though)
Pipkin
yeah, and I know she does better with checklists than people actually telling her things, so IDK
Pipkin
(which is why she always leaves notes for people that could be taken as being passive-aggressive. I don't think she even realizes that's how it sounds)
Pipkin
/nodnods!
I was going to say that it's gotten worse since moving to the house vs. being at the apartment, but it hasn't, really, it's about the same.
