So, I got my first "present" of Christmas: A letter from my job saying "Thanks for helping us during the season. Bye." :\
JimTheFly
On the plus side: The people I worked with at night all went "Wait, WHAT?" The night manager even went "Let me see that letter!"
JimTheFly
She told me to call back in the coming weeks. A few times. They'll probably have openings, and she'll make sure to remember me.
JimTheFly
Hell, she even remembers my last name. And Wally would love to have me there working the electronics area late at night.
JimTheFly
So I guess you could say I got my freedom for Christmas? I dunno. However there are three things I DO have...
JimTheFly
My badge, my electronic time card, and my employee discount card. I plan on trying the last as long as possible.
JimTheFly
I know my Sears one was good for like 6 months after the fact.
`Courage
That's like what happened to me last year. Rough.
JimTheFly
The thing that gets me: The store manager and the asst manager made the schedules. This includes the night shift, which they don't work.
JimTheFly
The night managers didn't have input on schedules. So we had some REALLY interesting nights where NONE of the major stock crew were there
JimTheFly
Therefore, the store manager and asst manager were the ones who cut everyone. But there's talk of some regulars leaving.
JimTheFly
I expected to be let go, tbh... our store has a normal staff of ~50. For this last month we were at 158. So.... yeah.
JimTheFly
One thing I did, though, was climb up one of our tall ladders and look out over the store... and see just how much was GONE.
JimTheFly
Top stock in SOOOO many areas is gone, and some of those aisles are out of brands. And 3 days ago, it was PACKED.

On the plus side: I get my final check on December 30th/31st... so I can cash or deposit it before party times. :-D
