I think the camera might be slightly kinder to the sets in the older shows because the lesser image quality disguises how Definitely Miniature they are? but the thing about good miniatures is that knowing it's a miniature does not at all damage its visual appeal
this week's episode of omega was among other things a love letter to tokusatsu itself and like. I feel it bro. you're so right side character of the week tokusatsu IS the shit
I knew next to nothing about ultraman before going in so you can imagine my delight, as a tiny crafts enjoyer, to realize I was essentially walking into a fucking tiny crafts museum
in motion it's a lot more obvious those are tiny boats and tiny buoys because you simply cannot disguise Small-Scale Up-Close Water as Large-Scale Distant Water
yeah you like. have to build At A Certain Scale to get water to look Right in miniatures work and that requires a certain amount of room to construct the thing
if r/b were slightly less ... ultraman r/b i'd highly recommend you watch that one for my favorite antagonist, the doomed evil lesbian with a brother complex who used to hang out with oscar wilde and by extension bram stoker a hundred years or so ago and turns into an angry dinosaur sometimes
unfortunately,
