[the outer worlds] Oh my god I've barely even progressed the main story because I'm having too much fun doing side quests, I'm so satisfied with my purchase this game is everything I wanted

And by that I mean. The first game, again, but better. And it's awesome.

Okay review so far after five hours (going to bed now): the combat feels great but I think Paradise Island has some balancing issues, had to lower my difficulty to make things doable. I've only got three companions but they're very charming, liking them a lot. This game is also SO PRETTY.

Haven't finished Paradise Island because I've been exploring and doing side quests and just generally taking it all in, I'll do it tomorrow when I'm less tired.

The plot hook has really intrigued me but it's making me desperate to know what year this game takes place in because I'm speculating 6-7 years after the first one but I can't be too sure without a date

Also there's no pronouns option which was a little disappointing because Avowed had it but I assume that was something Microsoft mandated after backlash or a desire to release it in more places. That being said Obsidian were cheeky with a workaround because the Commander hasn't been referred to with gendered terms at all.

Like not even pronouns because whenever people talk about you they just refer to you as Commander rather than with a pronoun and I think that's great.

(Also they/them pronouns are included in one of the little text logs I found for a deceased workers form so I assume I'll bump into a few non binary NPCs too. Neat!)
