I've been stuck in a rut with Kai for months so I think I'm going to drop him orz. The question is whether or not to still try to do the Wild Hunt event?

I had fun writing his toplevel and there are some fun options for him with the event

I love this game and everyone here so I still plan to bring in a new character once the new tdm is up

probably another mage, but from the original group. Kai's timeline is 100 years in the future.

I'm leaning towards Rastaban, my reluctant healer and energy vampire who will hopefully be easier to find CR with

I've loved Kai and Faquarl's interactions! They were so fun!

the new mage I want to bring in has the same magic roots as Kai so faquarl can continue to be confused by it. Rastaban also leans more into his inhuman side sometimes since his magic allows him to drain other's life energy and he's a bit addicted to it. Hence energy vampire

I’m so glad you liked him! Kai’s struggle for acceptance is one of the things I like the most about playing him, but it feels like he just hasn’t gotten enough traction to really go anywhere with it.

Rastaban has some of that inner magic struggle too but as a healer he’s more likely to interact with others while Kai wanted connection but also wanted to be the kind of person that’s fun but people forget easily so he can disappear when he needs to. I think that intentional chameleon nature of his backfired and I made him too forgettable.

There is a slight possibility I could keep Kai and bring in Rastaban. I would have to ask the mods but it says 2 characters from the same canon are allowed and they are 100 years apart so they’ve never interacted before. I’ll send a question to mods to check.

If Rasta is a more active character maybe it could balance out Kai’s slow burn.

Especially since if Kai dies stay he’s going to back slide a ton after being hunted again by the Wild Hunt
