René Auberjonois Star Trek and MASH actor dies from metastatic lung cancer age 79

I remember him on MASH now.

but he was one of my favorite actors since I was a kid watching him on 'Benson'

Incredible actor. We have a friend whose father was a writer/showrunner on Benson - if you remember the episode where Benson and Kraus have a shared post-apocalyptic dream, she was the little girl who snarked about being in the fur coat - and she said that Rene Auberjonois was a lovely man.

that's awesome, would have loved to have met him

Apparently all the cast and crew were pretty nice to her, which is partly due to who her father was, but I remember what she said about Auberjonois the most because he and her father stayed in touch for years afterwards.
